A trip to Xenith to spend time with the legendary Colin Foulke is a pilgrimage every handpan player should make. Our visit included hands-on time with a variety of instruments, stories from Colin’s recent trip to China, and a mini lesson on the music theory of handpan scales. Colin even took the time to teach me one of his pieces I’ve loved for years and to check over my 2018 Æther SaByeD, which is still in tune and sounding beautiful.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed spending time with Colin at his workshop. He showed us the various models on offer, all of which he hand made, of course; he taught me some technique and musical theory that will be useful (as a newly minted aspirant) when I begin to practice; and he let me play all of the models. He is a very warm and humorous person, his workshop is really cool, and it was an all around great and worthy experience.

Just want to start off by saying thank you for showing me around your shop today. I had a blast getting the personal tour and seeing all of the percussion and hand pans you work with and make. It was totally rad to hit some notes with you and get to jamming for the little but that we did. I was blown away by all the different sounds and tones you can get from these drums. Thank you for showing me all of this again.

It’s my pleasure to meet Colin in person at his workshop. I am a pure beginner don’t know what to expect or ask. Thought it would worth my drive to book a workshop tour before place the order.
After a quick introduction, I was so fortunate tried on multiple handpans with different scales and sizes. It’s a special treat when Colin played on them. Knowing how beautifully those instruments could sounds. Then I fell in love with one which I did not plan for. Truly felt connected with a happy mood. Clearly that’s what I got. This won’t happen if I did not visit his workshop.
Colin is very knowledgeable, supportive and joyful. His workshop tour is a good support for beginners and great connection for professionals.
